المنظمة العربية للعلماء الشباب هي مؤسسة فتية، و لكنها منخرطة في مشاريع الأكاديمة الدولية التي تأسست سنة 1999، و آخر ملتقى مشترك تم تنظيمه في الاسكندرية بمصر في أبريل الماضي بحضورالعشرات من العلماء الشباب العرب و تم تنظيم آخر نشاط في برلين في 16-19 يونيو 2011 بتعاون مع الأكاديمية الألمانية للشباب تلعب المؤسسة دورا فعالا في ضم العلماء و الباحثين الشباب لهذا التعاون العربي الأوروبي و تقديم اقتراحات بهذا الصدد، و دعم هذا التعاون الذي يمكن أن يشمل مجالات عدة: - البحث العلمي - التحديات الاجتماعية: الهجرة، البطالة، عنف الشباب.. - التحديات البيئية - تبادل المعلومات و الخبرات و الشبكاتية الأهداف: تكوين القدرات - الشبكاتية و التواصل بين العلماء و الباحثين الشباب العرب الربط بينهم و بين نظرائهم في الدول الأوروبية - تشمل أنشطة المنظمة كل الدول العربية بالنسبة لفرعها العربي، بينما تشمل المنظمة الأم كل دول العالم تحديد أهم القضايا المرتبطة بحياة العلم والعلماء الشباب العرب، وتسهيل التفاعل بين العلماء في كل الوطن العربي، تسهيل طرق الحوار البناء بين العلماء العربي والمنظمات الدولية. ضمان ديمومة العلوم والتكنولوجيا من خلال تطوير مجتمع علمي عالمي مثقف ومطلع علميا بين العلماء الشباب إدراك قدرات الشباب على أنهم الجيل اللاحق من العلماء وصناع القرار جعل العلوم أكثر جاذبية وأكثر فهما ونفاذا للجميع توفير مناخ يشجع على الإبداع والتواصل الصريح والتدفق الحر للأفكار والمواهب

 Our enthusiasm in formulating the "Arab World ِAssociation of Young Scientists” received an overwhelming support that is given to us in good faith and in hope for us to participate in interpreting the vision of our region into a positive reality. This throws a big responsibility on each member in helping our Association prosper through the realization of its goals. The Association continuous success will always be realized through your dedication and determination in leaving a legacy that makes all Arabs proud for generations to come.

Dr. Olfa Mahjoub, President

Associate Professor in Agricultural Sciences working at the National Research Institute for Rural Engineering, Water, and Forestry (INRGREF), Tunisia. She is Agricultural Engineer holding a PhD in Water Sciences with more than 15 years of experience in wastewater reuse in agriculture and water quality. Her field of research covers also the emerging pollutants in water and soil. Cross-cutting aspects like social and regulatory aspects related to reuse of wastewater are among her fields of interest.

She chaired and co-chaired international projects funded by DAAD, USAID, UNESCO, USDA, etc. Since 2015, she is Member Observer of the Nereus COST Action ES1403 on emerging pollutants and reuse of wastewater. She is the Tunisian chair of the on-going project “Water in the World We Want – a Water-related SDG Evidence Framework for National Action” funded by UNOSD/UNU-INWEH/KECO. 

She has several publications in peer-reviewed journals, edited books, and conference proceedings. She is co-author of the policy-makers’ booklet “The Grand Challenge of Water Security in Africa - Recommendations to Policy Makers” (NASAC/German Academy of Science Leopoldina/BMBF). She is alumni of the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) and DAAD, member of OWSD, IWA, and MENA NWC. She was selected to actively participate in the World Science Forum 2015 and the Budapest Water Summit 2016.

 

Dr. Jauad El Kharraz, Secretary-General

Head of Research at the Middle East Desalination Research Center in Oman. He spent 17 years in Spain & France (MSc & PhD in Physics). He has been working as data & projects manager at the Euro-Mediterranean Water Information System, France, and Researcher at the Global Change Unit, Spain.

He conducted several EU projects and is representative of France at the Intergovernmental framework for EU Cooperation in Science & Technology (COST Action TN1301). Co-Author of the last UNESCO Science Report. He contributed to hundreds of conferences, journals and reports in the fields of water, remote sensing and science.

 

Dr. Drouiche Nadjib, Board Member

Senior researcher at the Centre de Recherche en Semi-Conduceurs pour l’Energetique (ALgeria).He is also the director of the Crystal Growth and Metallurgical Processes (CCPM)  and Head of the environmental team. His research interests include adsorption, membrane processes, electrochemical processes using sacrificial anodes, Advanced Oxidation Processes, and recovery of by-products from industrial waste. He has published more than 80 papers in ISI-ranked journals with more than 1000 citations and his h-index is 16. 

Dr. Drouiche was awarded TWAS-ARO YAS Prize 2012: "Sustainable Management of Water Resources in the Arab Region".

 

 

 

 

Mr. Firas Abd-Hadi, Communication Coordinator

MA in English Literature. He is the Head of Media & Communication Unit at the Insurance Commission of Jordan.

He is also an Environment & Development Translator and Communication Consultant for several organizations.

His research interests include finance, insurance, environment, integrated water resources.

 

 

 

Dr. Mounir Ouzir, Board Member

He received the PH.D degree in Neuroscience from Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hassan II University, Casablanca, Morocco, and another PH.D degree in Immuno-parasitology from the Faculty of Sciences, Mohammed V University in Rabat, Morocco. His current research interests include computational biology approaches to understand complex diseases, human activities, integrative genetic and genomic data analysis, Statistics, Machine Learning and Bioinformatics.  

He has several publications in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings. He has led a number of international conferences (SNDD 2016, 2nd Conference AMECA 2014, ISP 2014, SONA 2013) and IBRO Neurosciences schools.
